School Program Package 2007/2008
The Leighton Art Centre is a Non-Profit organization located on 80 acres in the foothills 20kms SW of Calgary.
We offer students the opportunity to explore their creativity through art and nature.
Program Structure:
KINDERGARTEN CLASSES WILL BE ACCEPTED AFTER CHRISTMAS
WE ARE LIMITED TO 4 Kindergarten CLASSES PER MONTH
A day at the Centre includes the following:
1. Two art projects (project #1 personal sketch/journal book, project #2 your choice (refer to art projects page))
2. Tour of the Leighton Art Gallery and Museum
3. Seasonal nature walk
4. Classroom Banner
- WE CAN ACCOMODATE 3 CLASSES PER DAY - ONE CLASS PER STUDIO
- FOUR HOURS is the recommended minimum length of time to complete a program.
- Arrival is between 9:30 and 10:00 a.m. and departure is between 2:00 and 2:30 p.m.
- Lunch time is approximately one half hour long and supervision is the responsibility of the visiting school.
- Times are adjusted according to the schools time.
Fee Structure:
- $12.00 per student (no charge for adults)
- Minimum charge $150.00 if you bring less than 15 students
- Chaperones - Four adults with a maximum of six per class
- Four adults per class recommended
- IF LESS THAN 4 HOURS ON SITE - NO SNACK TIME PROVIDED - PLEASE SNACK ON THE BUS
Cancellation Policy:
- $100.00 cancellation fee for less than 28 working days notice.
- Not applicable to weather related cancellations.
- Book buses early to avoid this fee
Important to Remember
- Remind adults they are here to help the students.
- A phone number will be made available for any last minute problems, especially weather.
- WEATHER - CAN BE DIFFERENT THAN CALGARY. Remind students/parents to dress in layers.
- Bring TWO boxes per class per art project. We do not have boxes available.
- If possible have students and adults wear name tags.
- Our drinking water is very limited as we must have it trucked in. Have students bring water bottles. We cannot microwave or heat meals. There are no vending machines or restaurants nearby.
- We do request that the schools bring back any garbage that they accumulate while here. Encourage children to pack recyclable lunch containers.
