Art Projects 2008
Kindergarten Art Projects (choose TWO):
Bird Feeder:
Students will construct a step-by-step willow bird feeder to take home.
Curriculum Connections – science (migration, animal needs, bird songs, environmentalism, seasons ), math (patterning), language arts (story telling), art.
Wildflower:
Students will construct a simple, hanging ornament from pumpkin seeds. Take home some special seeds to plant!
Curriculum Connections – science ( wildflowers, nature, environmentalism, living things), art, language arts.
Canvas Paint:
Students will create a simple landscape painting using acrylic paint and sponges.
Curriculum Connections – math (patterning, sequence, shape, size), art (color, line, shape), social studies (landforms, changing community, my community), science (trees, plants, animals).
Pots:
A 3D art form for the young ones! Using acrylic paint and sponges, students will focus on patterning in the decoration of a clay pot.
Curriculum Connections – art (line, shape, color), math (patterns).
Papermaking:
Focus on environmentalism and recycling. Students will construct two sheets of decorated paper.
Curriculum Connections – science (recycling, small creatures, trees), art, social studies (other communities).

Art Project # 1 – Sketching/Journaling
The following subjects will be covered - Grade and Time Appropriate:
Sketching/Journaling and the natural landscape, science focus on seasonal changes, Plants, Trees, Animals, Art focus (2D/3D/still life, shapes, patterns, etc).
Each child will leave with their own personal sketch/journal book)

Object-Based Learning Day:
Students will go home with a watercolour painting based on their experiences from the day! Curriculum connections include; ART, SOCIAL STUDIES, LANGUAGE ARTS and SCIENCE. Possibilities for follow up back at school.
