The Board of Directors of the Leighton Foundation is pleased to announce the appointment of Ms. Lisa Christensen to the Board of Directors and the appointment of Mr. Gervais Goodman as the Chairman of the Board, effective June 22, 2011.
Ms. Christensen has worked in the art world for twenty years, holding the positions of Associate Curator of Art at Calgary’s Glenbow Museum and Curator of Art at the Whyte Museum of the Canadian Rockies in Banff, in addition to freelance curatorial and corporate work. She has served on the Board of the Alberta Museums Association and is currently on the Art Advisory Council to Calgary’s Military Museums.
She is the author of three award-winning books on Canadian art history: A Hiker’s Guide to Art of the Canadian Rockies, A Hiker’s Guide to the RockyMountain Art of Lawren Harris, and The Lake O’Hara Art of J.E.H. McDonald and Hiker’s Guide. As a curator, researcher and writer, Lisa possesses unique knowledge particular to the art of Canada’s West and the Rocky Mountains as well as a broad and deep knowledge of Canadian art history. She is currently employed as Heffel Fine Art Auction House’s Calgary Representative where, in addition to serving Heffel’s Calgary clients, she writes extensively for the Heffel Fine Art Live Sale Catalogues.
Mr. Goodman joined the Board of Directors in 2009 and served as Chair of the Governance Committee.
Mr. Goodman is co-founder and Partner, with his wife Janice McDougall, in the Human Resource consulting firm of Goodman, McDougall & Associates Ltd. based at The Learning Sanctuary™ near Millarville, Alberta. The firm’s specialties are compensation and appreciative facilitation, subjects on which Gervais has spoken and published. Gervais and Janice have recently completed a conservation easement on their property with the Foothills Land Trust.
Mr. Goodman is also a past member of the Municipal District of Foothills Environment Committee and has served on the National and Calgary executives of the Strategic Capability Network, and as past Chair of Mount Royal College Human Resources Advisory Committee.
He has also recently had a successful photographic essay exhibit entitled “Imagine 8 Acres…” that explores the splendour of diversity in small spaces. This may be seen at http://vimeo.com/14092790 .
