Become a Volunteer
The Leighton Art Centre encourages all of our members to consider our exciting volunteer opportunities. These involve numerous fundraising events and ongoing short term projects. Volunteering at the Leighton Art Centre can be a fun, rewarding experience. Our volunteers love our wonderful venue, the variety of events we host and the opportunity of meeting other individuals who support art.
Current Volunteer Opportunites
Volunteers wanted for our collection re-storage project!
Can you help us on our new collection storage upgrade project? We are looking for volunteers interested in art conservation and/or sewing skills. Some of the projects we are working on include covering hat stands with fabric, sewing dust covers for exposed collection shelving and cutting archival chloroplast into dividers for the artwork. Bar Host/Hostess
The Leighton Art Centre is looking for a few committed volunteers who are interested in bartending at special events. This is a great chance to mingle with the other art enthusiasts and local artists while volunteering. Completing a brief course on bar-tending, paid by the Leighton Centre, is required for this position.
Tea & Tour Host/Hostess
We are always looking for volunteers to help with our Tea & Tour program. We offer tea and tours to seniors groups and other community organizations a few times a month (depending on bookings). It involves giving historical tours of our museum and art gallery while hosting tea sessions for the tour group. If you are interested in interacting with the public and learning the Leighton history, this position is for you!
Children’s Artist Demonstrator
If you enjoy creating art and working with children, please consider becoming one of our regular children’s art demonstrators. With your easel in the Great room, you can draw or paint the panoramic mountain view. School children tour the gallery and ask questions about you and your artwork.
Office Help
If you would like a quite afternoon shift volunteering, we need help with our membership mailouts. We will set you up in the "great room" with everything you need plus tea, cookies and the view!
