Community Group Programs

Effective March 2018, Leighton Art Centre is thrilled to offer our acclaimed Art & Nature and Art to Go! programs to community groups on non-school days. Perfect for organizations like Scouts, Girl Guides, Clubs, Homeschool Programs and other community groups, your group can have an enriching experience at Leighton Art Centre (Art & Nature), enjoying our 80 acre Foothills property and historic Education Centre, or at your location (Art to Go!).

Art & Nature Programs

Our on-site programs will connect your group to the natural world and the heritage of the Leighton Art Centre... plus get them thinking like artists!

Exploring our 80 acres and touring the art museum will create a framework of understanding for your adventurers as they engage in a stimulating and expressive art lesson in studio. 4 hour minimum; groups are welcome to stay for an extra hour of outdoor play time, supervised by your own leaders and volunteers. We have three historic art studios available for your group and charge for a minimum of 14 participants.

Art to Go! Programs

Can’t get to us? Let us come to you!

Art to Go! delivers right to your location an experienced and enthusiastic artist-instructor, armed with a fresh art project and all required materials. Participants apply exciting art techniques in an age-appropriate program that can be tailored to fit a particular focus or delivered as pure visual art instruction.

Instruction time is approximately 3 hours. We charge for a minimum of 14 participants for this program.

Art & Nature: minimum charge of $225 covers up to 14 participants, then $16/additional participant

Art to Go!: minimum charge of $185 covers up to 14 participants, then $13/additional participant

Art 2 Go! Out-of-Area Travel Charge: $45 per instructor for travel further than 40 kilometres from the Leighton Art Centre (according to the shortest road route on Google maps).

Weather Considerations

The Leighton Art Centre closes during times when the outside temperature is -20 degrees Celsius or lower.

The decision to cancel classes at the Leighton Art Centre will be made by the Education Coordinator by 7:30 am on the day of your intended visit and in some cases the night before (if storm warnings have been issued for the area). Group leaders and Leighton staff may share home phone numbers so this decision can be shared in a timely fashion. Leighton Art Centre apologizes for any inconvenience in cancelling classes but this decision is made with safety of visitors and staff at all times. Every effort will be made to reschedule cancelled groups. Common sense will prevail in all cancellations as we cannot predict road conditions, actual temperatures, etc.
