As part of the Transcending Traditions – Eleventh Annual Juried Members Show at the Leighton Centre, independent writer and curator, Mary-Beth Laviolette, will give an illustrated talk about the story of “abstract art” in Alberta.
She will look at some of the connections between an earlier generation of Alberta artists inspired by developments in abstract art and Leighton Centre founder, Barbara Leighton.
Mary-Beth curated Made in Calgary: The 1960s shown this year at the Glenbow Museum. She is the author of three books about Alberta art.
The Lecture is Saturday May 25, 2-4 pm. Admission by Donation.
