Discover Series: Luscious Pastels with Karin Richter

Come and enjoy a day of immersing yourself in the luscious medium of soft pastels! This workshop is designed for artists of all levels who are either new to pastels or want to improve their existing pastel paintings. A variety of techniques will be covered and various supports introduced. Try out and compare different papers and boards for either a rough or soft look, then we'll experience the lush surface of suede board - a perfect match for soft pastels! Through demonstrations, personal attention and critiques, Karin will focus on the elements needed to create a successful painting, such as strong composition and design, exciting colour, and tonal values. 

Audience: This workshop is designed for artists of all levels who are either new to pastels or want to improve their existing pastel paintings

 Artist Biography 

 Born in Germany into an artistic family, Karin has had a passion for painting since she was a child. She has been a professional artist for 25 years with a style that can be described as impressionistic. Her subjects are varied and she enjoys working in watercolour, oils, acrylics and pastels, as well as digital photography. Karen is an elected member of the Canadian Society of Painters in Watercolor (CSPWC), the Alberta Society of Artists (ASA), the Society of Canadian Artists (SCA) and Pastel Artists Canada (PAC) with a Master Pastellist designation (MPAC).
