Pushing Boundaries Series: Diving into Colour Theory with Sharon Lynn Williams

Understanding how to mix colours to get what the ones you really want to use is an essential part of painting. We will cover the use of a ‘double primary’ palette in order to mix the brightest secondary and tertiary colours, as well as how to choose appropriate colours to make a full spectrum painting with a limited palette. Colour terminology will be covered so we’re all speaking the same lanuguage and can avoid confusion. You will be amazed at what you can do with only 6 colours plus black and white (where applicable)! While we will be doing the class in watercolour, the information gained in this seminar is applicable to ALL painting mediums and handouts will be provided so you can remember what you learned and apply your new skills in your art.

This workshop is for adults with any level of experience.

Sharon Lynn Williams has been happily exploring mixed watermedia for over 35 years, and her mantra is “What would happen if…” The excitement of working from chaos to order is invigorating and creates a dialogue between the work and the artist. Sharon enjoys working with bold colour, line and texture. Her work is informed by the landscapes that she paints en plein air in oil, her passion for gardening and love of the human figure. Sharon's interpretations of the beauty around her, as well as her vivid imagination make for an eclectic and varied body of work. You may visit her website at http://www.sharonlynnwilliams.com/.
