Experimental watercolour is just about the most fun you can have with watercolour paints! It’s about playing with water and discovering all the fascinating things that it can do for us if we just ‘let go’ and let it express its true nature. It’s also about discovering new and exciting ways to get paint onto paper. This workshop will have you loosening up and getting in touch with your creativity. You’ll be pleased to find that this technique is pretty much stress free!
During these two fun and creative days, you will experience the liberation of throwing paint at the paper, learn the freedom of using masks of various types that can allow us to paint with abandon, and also learn when and how to unleash the power of the spray bottle.
The end goal of this workshop is to create realistic watercolour paintings, but we will do it in a fun and creative way. As an added bonus, you are going to discover a whole bunch of techniques that you can take back to your own painting. No matter what style you paint in, this workshop is going to help you create more interesting paintings.
''Rex is a wonderful teacher. He has a system that we can follow. He can articulate the what's and why's. He gave lots of hints, tips, and helpful feedback.''
Audience: This workshop is perfect for beginners who have never touched a paint brush or for those who have dabbled a little bit in paint, but intermediate level artists will also enjoy this workshop for a fresh view on watercolour!

Rex Beanland started painting in watercolour as a young child and has just never outgrown it. Something in that mysterious interaction between water and pigment continues to challenge and inspire him.
Rex is attracted to all subjects - especially landscapes and cities. He likes paintings that are colourful, exciting and, most importantly, paintings that tell a story. Rex finds it very exciting to work with beginning painters who may be unsure of their ability. By breaking the painting process down into simple, fun and easy-to-master steps, beginners are able to progress very quickly. They soon discover that they actually have a great deal of talent and they can experience the joy of creating lovely paintings. It’s surprisingly easy!
As a retired public school teacher, Rex is extremely excited to help people discover their true talents. If you have any questions, please email Rex: firstname.lastname@example.org.
