Making a Good Impression - Basic Linocut Printmaking with Michelle Wiebe

Start creating one of a kind gifts, stamps, prints, and patterns with the versatile skill of block printing! In this beginner level workshop the artist, Michelle Wiebe, will walk class participants through the art of printmaking. Join her as she shares the history, tools, and processes involved in pulling one-of-a-kind linocut prints. Students will learn how to use a few simple tools to create an impressive variety of handmade items from gallery quality prints to beautiful, one of a kind cards and gifts.


All supplies are included. You may chose to bring your own images to use as references during the workshop.

Please bring a lunch and a waterbottle for the day. Located in a rural community, the Leighton Art Centre is a 15 to 20 minute drive away from the nearest convenience store or quick-stop for lunch.

Artist Biography:

Michelle Wiebe is an Cochrane, Alberta based artist focused primarily on painting, printmaking and letterpress. Her work is characterized by simple subject matter rendered with bold colour and line work. With a deep love for teaching, she makes it her goal that students leave her class with quality work and the confidence to continue building their new skills. She can also be found doing collaborations, demonstrations and commission pieces. Recently she has done work for the City of Calgary and Creative Airdrie. She is a member of the Leighton Artist Centre and Alberta Printmakers.
