Plein Air Series: Charcoal with Kristin Boettger

This summer step out of your studio to become a Plein Air Artist, striving to capture the moment and the incomparable experience of 'being there', in the great outdoors. Through the En Plein Air Workshop Series, the Leighton Art Centre invites beginner and practicing artists to come and practice with a variety of mediums and techniques.

Join artist and art therapist Kristin Boettger for a plein-air charcoal drawing workshop. Immersed in the gorgeous Leighton landscape, this workshop is designed for people who want to connect with themselves and the natural world more deeply through instinctual mark-making of charcoal. Our practice this day will include gentle movement and breathwork, as well as some walking and sitting while we draw outdoors. Kristin will be your guide throughout the process helping you to deepen your felt experience of nature, and translate it meaningfully onto paper with the simplest of supplies. No art experience necessary.

WEATHER: In case of rain, activities will be performed inside the museum or one of the art studios of the Leighton Art Centre.

SUPPLIES: Supplies for the workshop are not included in the fee. Please bring the following supplies to the workshop:

  • Sketch book (approx. 8" x 10")
  • 3-5 Large sheets of sturdy drawing paper (approx 22” x 40”)
  • Drawing board to attach large paper to
  • Pencil
  • Box of compressed charcoal
  • White eraser
  • Grubby gloves (to wear while drawing if you don’t like to get your fingers dirty!)

Single Tickets are $75.00.
