Join Karin Thorsteinsson to learn Japanese silk dying technique “bokashi rozome”. This technique uses built up layers of wax resist (rozome) and colour gradients blended methodically using Japanese silk acid dyes. We will start by sketching an image to trace onto the silk as a guide. We will then go step by step to learn the possibilities of the technique. We will go over how to mix and build colours to create depth and detail. No experience is necessary to participate in this workshop, even very simple shapes can be built up to create beautiful abstract images.
When we are finished you will have at least one 10x10 silk painting that you can frame or use in another sewing project.
Audience: This beginner workshop is suitable for teenagers and adults
Supplies: All supplies are included but do bring a 10x10 reference image to draw or trace from.
