Leighton Art Centre
May 28, 2020 - Important Update
In light of recent events, we have been working hard to ensure that we can run a safe and healthy summer camp. In order to comply with new regulations and guidelines released by the Alberta Government and AHS we have had to make some changes to our summer camp format.
For summer 2020 - in addition to a rigorous cleaning schedule and extra hand-washing - we have reduced our camp capacity to 2 groups of 8 children per week. These two separate groups (aka cohorts) will not interact with each other during their day at Leighton Art Centre. They will have separate drop off spaces and staggered lunch times. We will also be making every effort to ensure that campers living in the same household end up in the same group. Having smaller groups will allow our instructors extra time to teach to a wide variety of skill levels so everyone will have the opportunity to create and challenge themselves artistically at an age appropriate level! We will take advantage of our generous outdoor spaces to create art, play, and explore as much as the weather allows.
To maintain social distancing rules and the safety of our staff, we have had to make the difficult decision to cancel our bus service for this year. We understand that this will significantly impact many participants’ ability to attend our camps and we will gladly offer a full refund to those campers upon request (see details below). We hope to reinstate bus service next summer.
For registered campers, we will be offering full refunds (without question or penalty) until 5 pm on June 2nd, 2020. After June 2nd the $25.00 cancellation fee will remain in effect for any cancellations made at least 4 weeks before the start of the registered camp week. After June 2nd, cancellations made with less than 4 weeks notice will not be eligible for a refund, except under extenuating circumstances. If you would like a refund for your currently registered camp spot(s), please email firstname.lastname@example.org with your name, your camper’s name(s), the email address you used for registration, and the week(s) of camp you are withdrawing from.
At this time, we have temporarily suspended camp registration so that we can ensure our group numbers comply with government mandates. We will reopen registration for any available spots on June 4th, 2020 at 1:00 pm. As usual, registration will be accepted directly through our website: http://bit.ly/38417Wx.
